First Cake of the New Year!

For #thefirstofthenewyear we were requested to make an #EloiseatthePlaza cake with a #3Dfigurine on top out of #modelingchocolate, first time making the chocolate and first time working with it, I think we did a great job considering. We made Eloise looking as though she was about to climb off the cake to show off her rambuntcious side as is depicted by her slightly turned torso. I would definitely use modeling chocolate again when making a figurine because it holds much better than fondant and it tastes really really good! Cake was a yellow cake filled and frosted with chocolate buttercream and then covered in #chocolatefondant.

The Plaza Hotel and Eloise

Does everyone know the story of Eloise? #Eloise was a girl who lived in the #PlazaHotel in NYC created by author Kay Thomas and depicts the antics of a precocious child at the age of six. Eloise has been a long standing tradition at the Plaza Hotel and to this day there is an Eloise suite in the hotel that can be rented out as well an Eloise shop that host tea parties for girl of which this cake was made for. There are many books about Eloise and her antics and travels and they can be found at http://www.eloisewebsite.com/index.htm. The picture of Eloise is to the right of the cake above and  as seen she wears a white shirt with ruffles down the middle, a black pleated shirt with suspenders and a pink bow on top of here head, the pictured illustration shows it in black but it's always pink so, we took all of the elements just described and made it into the cake as shown above.
