Hamilton

Hamilton, Hamilton, Hamilton!  I am dying to see the #Broadwayshow #Hamilton, tickets cost upwards of $500 I've been told, a little too steep for my pockets. I do believe in asking the universe what you want and so far I've had three encounters about the play, my mom mentioned last Thanksgiving that she really want to see it, a gym member at my gym excitedly told me she's going with her daughter to see the play, and lastly the cake above which was ordered by a man who's wife saw the show and loved it so much so that he had us make the cake above replacing Hamilton with Helene, how thoughtful! A #redvelvetcake frosted with cream cheese and then covered in fondant was requested and the rest as you know if you've seen or #googled the playbill replicates the show's logo. Hamilton, Hamilton, Hamilton I can see my future in the audience. Lol!

Doctor Who and His Tardis

Don't we all wish we had a #Tardis or some other time travel machine, heck I would transport myself back just three years prior and take a vacation somewhere in Central or South America before Zika existed, Zika is apparently really scary to me. Lands undiscovered and times that I think I would fit into would all be at my access, I'm sure there are some #backtoschool kids who would love to just relive their summer again. This being my second time making a Tardis, the first cake was a #3Dcake, it's an earlier blog post, but the cake above was made to be only two-dimensional. Made out of chocolate cake and filled with a raspberry preserve filling and then frosted with a vanilla buttercream. All of the covering and detail work is done in fondant. Call us to order one 212 665-0990.

iPhone 6 Cake

The above cake was made for a casting agent as a #thankyou from an actress who was booked for the new #iPhone6 as the voice in the commercial, congratulations #Natalie! Rose gold case with a few visible apps were made to replicate the one that's in the new commercial, to make the #rosegold color really stand out the cake was colored a blush pink as well as the buttcream which was our raspberry vanilla lace flavor.

Hairless Cat Cake

A #hairlesscat I really don't have much to say except I've never seen an animal that usually has hair without, what kind of breed are they? A client wanted one and we made it for her. Chocolate cake filled and frosted with vanilla buttercream and then covered in fondant.

Ryan Serhant of the Million Dollar Listing is Now the the #1 Broker in NYC!

#TheRyanSerhantTeam is now number one teams in sales in #NYC for real estate. This cake was ordered by his fiance Amelia to commemorate the team being number one, and we all thought Freddrick was number one, apparently not! Anyway, I really like Ryan, he seems like a stand-up sort of a guy. Congratulations Ryan!!! And I will keep watching you on #MillionDollarListing.

Drake's Birthday Cake

Drake like most boys his age loves trucks especially construction trucks so we made a cake special for him which had a #dumptruck, a #crawlerexcuvator, and a #bulldozer. Drake was turning three so we put a three on his cake and of course his name and then added crushed cookies for dirt and made rocks out of fondant.

Syringe Cake

#HappyNewYear! This was our first cake of the year what a way to go, I hope it doesn't mean trips to the doctor's office this year. Ok, so I am a little superstitious, they say how you start the new year is how it will be the remainder of the year, I'm saying bull s**t life is what you make it! This was a yellow cake with vanilla buttercream covered in fondant, the band aid, pills, and the the instrument #doctors use to look in your ear was made of gumpaste. This was not the most challenging cake but it made a nice presentation.

Making it Stick!

This cake was fun to make but made me feel sick to my stomach because both the bottle of Perrier and espresso martini had to be balanced and that was a difficult feat. Both were made out of cake and both had to stand up on cake, ok we've done that before nothing too difficult, but this cake or rather the tray which was made of cake was shallow so the dowels really had nothing to dig into. Now here's the best part, when the cake was delivered to the venue and assembled it looked great as seen in the picture but the venue had no a/c and it was raining and humid a nightmare for fondant creations. The bottle keep leaning and then so did the the martini glass, party revelers stood besides me and looked and admired the cake when all off a sudden the martini glass just jumped right off the cake! Everyone looked confused and one party guest remarked "It's a good think it happened now before the party really started." I smiled begrudgingly, I was nervous (sick to my stomach), but I knew what I had to do. I reached into my tool bag and pulled out a brush and put edible glue on the base of the glass and on the cake and adhered them together and prayed. I waited around for 10 minutes spoke with the host and hostess of the party who loved the cake, and then checked the glass to make sure that it was secure, it was, and I left but prayed again it was safe and would be for the rest of the night. A week later I got a call from the hostess' concierge company and was asked to price out a 3D cute white dog cake. Hooray!!! I knew not only the cake was liked when I presented it to the host and hostess but it stayed in place! Thank God!

This Doesn't Make Sense to Me

Halloween Before the Start of School?

During a shopping excursion at Michaels I discovered Halloween decorations already prominently displayed in the store. Com'on Micheals, REALLY? Kids haven't even gone back to school yet, NYC retailers are really pushing this holiday on us. In the words of Tyga and Bieber "Wait for a minute"!
