One of My Favorite Cakes Ever!

I love pigs  as a matter of fact if I could have a #petpig I would have one! I have a crystal pig figurine, pig napkin holders that I convinced a restaurant manager to sell me from off the set tables made in pewter, a stuffed pig and some other piggy paraphernalia . So this cake is truly one of my favorite ones because it's a pig but also because it's simplistic in design. We made a two tier cake look like the head and body of a cute pig, one tier was chocolate cake and the other yellow, both filled with a raspberry vanilla buttercream and frosted with vanilla buttercream which was then covered in fondant. I truly believe that buttercrean under fondant is the way to go although I do know that  a lot of #cakedesigners don't do this, it's my way, the Snooky's way, but we'll do it anyway you want! Call us for pig cake or anything else you can dream up!  212 665-0990

Rubik's Cube Cake

The #Rubikscube cake is one of the most difficult cakes to make, again the Rubik's cube cake is one of the most difficult cakes to make. Maybe I should say it three times. Although it looks simple, a cube with multi- colored square panels, making those squares line up evenly is hard as well as making a cake into a real cube even with a t square and a protractor, working in cake, #buttercream and #fondant ALL of which sift and can change their forms easily with temperature, movement made it hair pulling. We worked on this cake until it was time to be delivered hence the poor picture it is a "Quick get a picture shot!" with the delivery man was standing over us. Call Snooky's to order one just make sure to call us at least two weeks in advance 212 665-0990.

Je Suis Charlie!

I think in honor of the victims of the #CharlieHebdo office and the other victims in #Paris I will not present a cake this week for the blog, cake represents a time of celebrating and this is definitely not the time for celebrations but a time to reflect about what has happened and ask ourselves if we too are a part of #JeSuisCharlie (I am Charlie) because freedom of speech is paramount in our society today we've fought hard for it, it's in the Constitution, but it is NOW clearly evident that it is not in different parts of the worlds and within different sects. What are your thoughts?

Ushering in Warm Weather (Because we really really need it!)

Sprinkles always remind me of warm weather, Mr. Softee ice cream trucks with their familiar music that has lasted for decades having patrons lined up in front the ordering window and others walking away with their sweet twisted custard cone with multi-colored sprinkles. The memory conjures summer and Americana or at least warm weather I'm not really sure if Mr. Softee was around during the Americana period. Anyway, this cake was ordered for a wedding ceremony for a couple who loved sprinkles and who was to have a wedding to follow in the near future in Israel. We added a soft shimmering ribbon and ties a bow on each tier making it a beautiful simple cake that brought smiles to everyone. Summer we're waiting for you here in New York City we need you badly to erase all the snow storms of the season.

It's All About Timing.

We were asked to make a clock cake for one of the people who was instrumental in installing "The Clock" exhibit at Lincoln Center an art instillation by video artist Christain Marclay I must say truly a masterpiece and a must see if your ever in a city that has it (it travels around the world). So, we made an old fashioned clock, you know like the one we all saw in school in the past. It had a first, second, and third hand and was very visible to all especially if you were running late (I remember those days). Anyway, decorated all  in buttercream and done in the colors black, white and red for the third hand. Truly a classic!
